description The Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming, Michigan (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) has about 20 kilometers of high quality cross-country trails, including School and Baby Lake trails. There are the Teal Lake, a 5-kilometer moderate-level trail; Olympic, a 5-kilometer advanced-level trail; and Deer Lake, a 7.5 kilometer advanced trail. The Teal Lake trail is lighted. A portion of the trails is used for the Noquemanon race. The trails are enjoyed year-round. Cross-country skiers use them in the winter, and hikers and joggers also use the trails. The trails offer beautiful views, especially during the color season.
